Its a rainy cold gray day here in New York. The perfect kind of weather to be inside re-mastering a record. The record is the Hyper Active Album that Jeff, Larry, and I put out way back in the early 80s. I got an email from an east coast DJ that found a collector in Japan that had a copy of the album and he bought it from him. He wanted to use the album in his radio show and offered to burn me a CD of it. Well when I heard it, it brought back memories and reminded me of that marathon recording session. We recorded and mixed that record in one 40hr stretch and the fatigue is quite evident. I am not Bob Katz but I did watch him master the Clark Pauken Ricketts "Reactivated" CD so I am trying my hand at it.
It will be up and available on Itunes and the other download sites in a couple weeks.
Check it out!

The Clark, Pauken, Ricketts CD is finally out. The day it came out I granted permission for the use of two of the tunes in the television show "Cullins Quest" airing on Comcast! Click on the CD cover to check it out. More distributors available on the New Music Page.

The Clark Pauken Ricketts "Reactivated" CD is being streamed to cell phones in Japan on a Sony network called G3.
I remember a little Japanese from my tours over there many moons ago but am looking for translators on this one :-)

I don't remember the exact year but it was some time in the 70s at the Berrien County fair in Berrien Springs Michigan. The rodeo was about to start and to open the show a drop dead gorgeous girl came riding out on her steed zipping around the arena. Well being in my teen years, needless to say it left quite an impression on me! When I got home I picked up my guitar, jotted down some lyrics, and filed it away. When we were picking tunes for the "Happy Bottom Riding Club", I played it for Jeff and Larry and "Ride the Pony" was born. I remember driving home to Camarillo after that session thinking, we finally captured a tune the way I heard it in my head! Well the "Happy Bottom Riding Club" was never shopped to the labels and so it and the tunes on it were nothing more than a cult record being traded on the net. Fast forward to the fall of 2004. I get a call from an agent in New York and he says they would like to use "Ride the Pony" in a film. Well if you have heard the tune you can imagine why my first question was, "what kind of film are you talking about?". When he said the cast included "Billy Bob Thornton", "John Cusack", "Randy Quaid", etc and that the director "Harold Ramis" absolutely loved the tune, I negotiated the license!
The film is called "The Ice Harvest".
Check it out!
